Wednesday I had the privilege of hanging out with Aidan at school all day on his birthday. It was my second tour of duty with the dad's Watch D.O.G. program and I had even more fun than I did the first time around.
In addition to the joy of observing Aidan in action (and giving and receiving hugs, high fives and secret handshakes whenever he felt like we should slip one in), I was able to watch the kindergarteners during gym class, tutor some of his classmates one-on-one and observe the elementary kids penguin sliding down a hill at recess. I was even empowered with the red "teachers only" correcting pen liberally giving out stars and "Great job!" comments to the kids during their reading and handwriting time.
Today I joined the kids for the second time in three days chaperoning their afternoon tubing trip. I served as kid herder, it-wasn't-that-scary-let's-try-it-again motivational coach, tube accelerator captain and tired kid tow truck for Aidan and two of his buddies. I'm having so much fun going to school every day I just might enroll in kindergarten!
