WARNING: Assisting children in discovering something they find fascinating may lead to future levels of extreme mental fatigue. Particularly when said discovery is noticeable in wide supply while traveling for extended periods of time in mobile but enclosed spaces.
Remember the Flag Finding Mission? We're still going strong recognizing every flag waving in the breeze while traversing between points A and B. The boys even recognize the state flag of Minnesota now. Aidan will almost subconsciously slip "USA flag" and/or "Minnesota flag" into a stream of his own conversation as effortlessly as taking a breath. If we're passing by the golden arches a "McDonald's Flag" will even work its way into a rapid fire succession of banner recognition.
So I'm playing the usual word games with Aidan while we're travelling about. He asks what something says, I throw the question back at him and he provides the correct response to his original inquiry. I tried to bend his mind around one day and asked him to read a stop sign backwards. "POTS!" he responded with great enthusiasm. "POTS!" yelled Kellen with equal exuberance. "Ruh Roh!" the Scooby Doo voice in my head said to me.
Now as we travel about they recognize (and verbally respond to) all kinds of flags...and every POTS sign on the planet.
