This just in...Maui is even more amazing when the sun is up. We woke up Sunday morning to discover we are RIGHT on the beach. We knew we were close but the darkness during our arrival prevented us from seeing fully that the resort is definitely on the beach. During our first morning we dipped our toes in the water as we strolled along the shore. We've since dipped more than our toes in much deeper water on multiple occasions.
Sunday allowed for some island exploration (some intentional...some incidental). Driving along the coast it was amazing to see the bright blue skies and the sparkle of the blue water surrounding green foliage, white clouds and an infinite array of colors in the form of flowers and many other things. The golf courses here are very impressive and make me wish I was a golfer. Unfortunately a day on the links would just have the course looking amazing while I looked like I always do when golfing.
Everybody and their dogs (seriously) were out surfing yesterday. The wave vehicle of choice appears to be a modified surf board with a paddle to get people out far enough and then to give them a boost coming toward the shore.
We'll be leaving for our luau late this afternoon having already explored Ioa Valley with the road to Hana, sunrise from atop a volcano and snorkeling in Molokini (not a monokini) yet to come.
