Hike Maui: Waterfalls & Rain Forests

On our final full day in Maui we took a guided tour through some of the eastern rain forests on a quest to spend a little more quality time with the waterfalls.  The hike allowed me to fill my camera memory card with pictures of the foliage and the falls.
 

In addition to the waterfalls and swimming beneath them, the hike was like a walk through a botanical encyclopedia.  Below is a video of one of our tour mates demonstrating the fern-like plant that plays dead when you touch it.



These funky water shoes (I thought they looked like hooves) made navigating slippery rocks more manageable.
