Epic Laundry Day

After a week in Hawaii and an unscheduled trip home for Memorial Day the evidence that it was time to do laundry was piling up…literally.  Living suitcase-to-suitcase for two weeks had us running dangerously low on appropriate coverage.  We survived to the weekend barely avoiding walking around barely and finally got things spinning today.

Evidence that it is time to do laundry…

1. There is a suitcase full of clothes in everyone’s bedroom and you start pulling items that have been in there for weeks deeming them wearable under the dire circumstances.

2. You’ve convinced yourself that the pair of gym shorts you’ve been wearing for five nights while relaxing before bed can take another evening.

3. Suitcases have simultaneously become hangers and hampers.  A walk across the bedroom floor is essentially a stroll through a field of landmines and your toes hit a suitcase so hard your two-year old son almost learned a word you hope to never hear pass through his lips.

4. Lucky to find one last clean bath towel you have successfully avoided using a hand towel to dry so much more than your hands.

5. The thought of flipping a pair of your undies inside out and giving them another go just crossed your mind.

6. The hallway leading to the laundry room looked like this before your wife made her contribution.

7. Your kids could easily disappear in these piles and you think you just saw one move.

8. Two words…sniff test.

9. Your son’s still in his pajama pants at 2:30 and it’s obvious you grabbed the last clean t-shirt in the house choosing cleanliness over something that even remotely fit.

Nice mid-rift Kellen!

10. Laundry Day has become a weekend event with the real possibility of a Monday encore to finalize the monumental task.  NOTE: Rachel just told me we’re down to eight loads having already completed six.  Maybe we can get it all done tomorrow…maybe.
