Mr. Rachel

Kellen is an endless source of humor and entertainment. He knows how to get a reaction and milks those moments for all they’re worth. Whether is staring at you with angry eyebrows only to raise them dramatically when you start to wonder if he’s really mad or displaying intense amounts of enthusiasm for the small things in life, he knows how to work a room.

Recently he’s transported the way he and Aidan address our friends in his communications with his parents. After talking about our buddy and neighbor Mr. Scott, Kellen decided he would begin showing me the same respect. During a morning of Wii bowling he would take his turn, then look at me and say, “Your turn Mr. Travis!” Later that day (and every day since he got a laughing reaction) he’s been doing the same for his mother. “Mr. Rachel, will you change my diaper?”

He’s anxious to show his smarts like his brother too. Aidan is always questioning the words he hears building upon his growing vocabulary. Kellen has started to do the same with mixed results. First, while discussing animals, I explained to Aidan what a marsupial was. Little brother giggled and shouted out, “C-3PO!?!?”. Yes. That kangaroo was one of the featured characters in Star Wars. Later in the week he excitedly watched as some sporty people on TV ran through a “Popsicle course” (obstacle course).

Kellen is also mimicking his brother’s joke telling with this, his favorite knock-knock joke of the moment (and the extras that came along with it this time)…

Today Aidan gets his tonsils and adenoids removed...I don't normally give them Popsicles and Jell-O for breakfast.

Please excuse my Fran Drescher laugh.
