Operation: Successful

Today was tonsil and adenoid removal day for Aidan. He was thrilled with his breakfast of grape Jell-O and a grape Popsicle and we soon discovered you can’t provide that menu to one kid and not the other. Kellen therefore had a Popsicle and Jell-O for breakfast as well. Cutting a little stomach like that off from any food or drink consumption after 8:00 in the morning for a 3:45 surgery was not fun in the afternoon. We did manage to distract him enough to not be thinking about it constantly.

He was a little hesitant walking into the surgical center but loosened up quite a bit after wrapping this one man tent around his little frame.

One size fits small?

Even better was the fact that we were able to relax and watch cartoons for awhile.

He laid down fairly easily and fell into pre-surgery sleep without a fuss. Perhaps he was just mesmerized by my stylish surgical room hat, booties and coveralls (sorry folks…no photos).

The recovery took awhile but we made it home and got juice, ice cream, a Popsicle, a jelly sandwich and some banana into his tummy. He’s a bit uncomfortable but making some good strides already.

I’ll be sleeping beside him tonight and answering his every call for a few days hoping for a quick recovery. Tomorrow calls for more ice cream, some cartoon watching and movie time (including our new Veggie Tales DVD).
